  2. While I'd like to get all excited, two things give me significant pause. First, I've had a 3-1 lead in the Cup before only to lose. Second, the road team has won all five games in the Cup so far and the series now heads to Seattle for the final two where River Cities will have the road advantage.

So, it's nice to win a third game, but it doesn't mean much without the fourth one.

P.S. Why the heck would the computer pinch hit for Nelligan? He was cruising through 6 innings. 66 pitches thrown, 3 hits, no walks, 5 Ks. We had the lead and there was only a guy on first with two outs. I would have kept Nelligan in and see if he could have gone the distance. Oh well.

  3. The computer wants to throw him again in game 7 if it comes to it.

  4. God, that would be outstanding. I still have fond memories of Randy Johnson coming into the decisive Game 5 against the New York Yankees in 1995 in extra innings, after pitching in Game 3 two days earlier, and getting the win when Edgar Martinez doubled down the line to score Joey Cora and Ken Griffey Jr. (running faster than I have ever seen him before or since). That was one of the greatest baseball games I've ever witnessed.

Of course, then I'm snapped back to the present and the putrid mess that is the current Seattle Mariners. Ugh.
