Sim 8 (July II): Who uploaded?

Cleveland

Danville

Hickory

Houston

Los Angeles

Maui

New York

River Cities

Seattle

Two quick administrative notes:
1. I did not sim July 31, so you have until the next sim to make trades.
2. Mack noticed that the default media contracts in 9 are a lot smaller than they were in 6.5. Assuming that there are no objections, I'm going to change the average media contract from $5M to $40M.

Next sim on Thursday

  1. I am assuming that you meant 'Merchandising Revenue' instead of 'Media Revenue'. Media contracts seem to vary from $35M to $55M which is above an average of $40, while the Merchandising does seem to be down from last season (but these are tough economic times). I think $40M might be high for an average for Merchandising, but if everyone is for it, I am not going to be against it, I will need the money eventually.

  2. No, he means Media. Right now the contracts are carried forward from 6.51a but Mack noticed (and I confirmed) that the next round of contracts was almost an order of magnitude smaller while the existing contracts, and player contract demdns, remained the same. In test runs over in the OEL we saw a financial crash in most test decades that saw leagues die and most high-talent players either did not sign or were signed and teams could not afford them. It was ugly and it needed to be adjusted.

    Thanks, Zev!

  3. That said...

How the hell are we still tied? We've been tied at the end of every sim since the first one? That's six sims wherein New York and River Cities have had identical records! I wouldn't event WANT to try to calculate the odds of that happening.

  4. So, just to be clear:

I have to play six games *in a row* against fricking Seattle. Paul Shunk will remain injured just long enough to miss all six games. Hunnicutt and Blevins will both be injured just long enough to each miss a start, forcing me to run out minor leaguers and middle relievers.

Next up, a plague of locusts. Awesome.

  5. That's some tough injury luck, Frank...
And that's a great deal you signed Hukill for, Nate. Wish my owner would even let me consider doing a deal like that - I'm not quite sure how it's setting my budget for next year.

Random thoughts - looks like Hector Orozco likes the move to the starting rotation - 2 starts, 2 wins, no earned runs and 15Ks in 12 innings.

I like Mohammed Stelly's line score in the 19-4 win against Walla Walla on July 28th -
    1 5 1 1
One at bat, 5 runs, one hit, one RBI. That's a solo home run and 4 walks.
