Last Sim of the Season and the Playoffs

I've asked Michael to run the last sim of the season. Since I am in a position to possibly clinch a playoff spot (1 game up with four to play) and Michael isn't, I felt it would be beter if he ran the sim.

Likewise, in the event that I do capture the Adams League wildcard, he will run the first round of the playoffs.

And, assuming that I capture the wildcard and defeat Seattle in the first round*, he will run the Cecil Cup sims as well.

Michael may alter the schedule from Saturday night. If he does, he will post it here.

Don't ask what will be if both Michael and I play against each other for the Cecil Cup... we'll cross the bridge then. :)

* Odds of my beating Seattle in the first round: about the same as the odds of pulling a single blue marble out of a pile of red marbles where the pile is the size of the sun.

  1. So, for those of us in our first year: how does the playoff sim work? Do we still sim big chunks at a time? One game at a time? How long, in real-life terms, from now until the playoffs end, for example?

  2. The playoffs are done one game at a time, with about four to five sims a week until they are done.

  3. Actually, Zev, by my calculations the wild card team should upset the league champion between 40 and 45% of the time. The playoffs are a crap shoot.

  4. First things first, if any Adams League owners want to "tilt" the outcome of the remaining games, you know how to contact me. :)

Seriously, would anyone object if I ran the sim Saturday morning (around noon, EST)? I have plans Saturday night, so if I can't do it around 9pm Eastern, it might not happen until Sunday morning (if I don't do it Saturday morning). I'm sure most owners are anxious to see how the rest of the season pans out, but I wanted to ask before I did it.

Also, if the playoffs are River Cities/New York (well, yeah...) and Seattle/Brooklyn, games one in the first round will be on Monday night. If Brooklyn doesn't make it, I'll let Zev decide when the playoffs will start.

  5. I'm on travel in DC Thursday through Sunday. But I should be OK...just halfway out of touch.

  6. Given the generally tortured history of the Seattle Monarchs in the playoffs, I think Nate's underestimating the Adams League odds of an upset. I am morbidly convinced I am losing in the first round.

Also, no objection to a Saturday morning sim. I've already made the changes I need to make.

  7. I'm fine with anytime Saturday. My updates will be in by Friday night.

  8. Mine are already complete, as well. You could run the sim today, for all I'd care.

In fact, if Paul hasn't then I'd PREFER it be done now.

  9. Nice try, Nate.

It seems that Saturday morning is a go for the sim. Although, I'd like to make sure the teams still in contention in the Adams League are cool with that.

May the best team (in league history) finish below .500 for the first time! :)

  10. Michael, I really don't see how the Monarchs will finish below .500, but feel free to futilely root for it if you want.

  11. The worst team in league history, the Cleveland Steamers, who have never finished even close to .500 should win more than 60 games this season, giving them 4+ more wins than last season. At this rate we should have our first .500 season by 2018. I am ready!!!!!
