  1. For those of you who may have been paying close attention to the draft, you will note that Hickory's #1 overall pick was not in fact transferred to Seattle. Frank and I agreed to roll back the first-round pick that Hickory owes Seattle to the 2017 draft and at our request Zev approved the slight deviation from the normal trade rules.

As you will recall, Frank and I worked out a complicated, two-part trade where David Kerry and Greg Mudge were the principle players
changing hands. In the deal, I was to receive Frank's 2015 first-round pick. Later, everyone realized that Hickory had already traded its 2015 first-round pick to River Cities. So, Frank and I went back to the table and I received Hickory's 2016 first-round pick and its 2016 fourth-round pick to compensate me for waiting an extra year.

Well, as we all know now, Kerry got hurt and Frank's team collapsed and Hickory was entitled to the #1 pick in this year's draft. That didn't really reflect the intention of our original trade. When Frank and I negotiated the original trade, neither of us was thinking the pick could or would be the first overall pick. (Middle of the round is my recollection of where his pick was in the 2015 draft.) That didn't strike me as fair under the circumstances. So, I asked Frank if he was interested in rolling it back one more year; in effect moving Hickory's 2016 first-round pick back to him in exchange for Hickory's 2017 first-round pick. He said he was. Zev approved.

So, when Michael has a chance to draft the 2017 traded draft pick list, you'll see that Hickory's first round pick in that draft will belong to Seattle.

  2. Thanks, Mack, for explaining the situation. I'll get the new 2017 Traded Draft Picks list online this weekend.

And, speaking of the draft, what a crappy class this was. Hopefully the new feeder league will help with the scouting in the future. I immediately released about half of my draft haul this morning when I loaded the sim and reviewed my new players.
