River Cities SS John Hukill wins Player of the Week (9/12)

Outstanding Pitchers:
  • Moose Jaw (SAS) closer Alejandro Lopez who spent most of the year as a starter going 15-5 (with 3 saves) with a 1.90 ERA.
  • Sharon (RIV) starter Cal Hamilton with a record of 14-6, with a 1.90 ERA
Outstanding Hitters:
  • Kent (SEA) 3B Bay Tran-Nhu who hit .381 with 7 home runs 51 RBI and an OPS of .867.  He also stole 29 bases.
  • Kihei (MAU) CF Reijro Kondo who hit .369 with 11 home runs and 50 RBI and an OPS of .808.

Class AA
Outstanding Pitchers:
  • Olympia (SEA) SP Jesus Concepcion with a record of 14-5 and a 2.68 ERA.
  • Brighton (OH) SP Larry Gabrielson with a record of 15-2 and an ERA of 1.86 before being promoted to Mississagua (AAA) where he went 2-2.
Outstanding Hitters:
  • Quincy (DAN) Kitahatchi Noriyori who hit .329 with 16 homers and 71 RBIs and an OPS of .854.
  • Jersey City(AA) (HIK) LF Melvin Steinbach with a .276 average, 25 homers and 87 RBI.  His OPS was .828.

Class AAA
Outstanding Pitchers
  • Regina (SAS) SP Einar Gaona compiled a record of 17-3 with an ERA of 2.70.
  • Debois County (DAN) pitcher Benicio Castro who went 16-10 with a 2.71 ERA.
Outstanding Hitters:
  • Jersey City (AAA) 1B Jorge Vasquez:  .300, 18HR, 85 RBI, .834 OPS.
  • Dayton (RIV) 1B Lindsay Walker: .353, 11HR, 59RBI, .941 OPS

Injuries
Cleveland SP Ernest Gerth strained his bicep muscle.
Cleveland SP Kendrick Kaler developed a blister
Hickroy MR William Lawrence developed a blister.

All three are minor 1-2 week injuries but this close to the playoffs it may be significant.

Milestones
River Cities RF Patrick Valdez scored his 1000th run.  He is the 11th player to reach this milestone.

Next sim:
Next Saturday night, July 17.  This sim will cover the remainder of the regular season and take us up to Game 1 of the playoffs.

  1. Since this is our first year with the new divisions, how does the first round of the playoffs work? Does the team with the best record play the wild card team, and then the other two teams play each other? Or is there a different playoff structure?
