Seattle, Saskatoon Hold 2-1 Leads

Maui defeated Saskatoon by a 3-2 score in 11 innings.  Seattle defeated Hickory 9-8 after a wild 9th inning.

Game 4 tomorrow night.

  1. I think my favorite thing about these games came in the top of the 11th inning in the Saskatoon-Maui game. Two outs. Runners on first and third. Starting second baseman Timothy Mendiola at the plate.

The reserve centerfielder, Jose Diaz, who is playing catcher because the manager stupidly used up both of his catchers, is the runner at first. Diaz has been thrown out in seven of his ten stolen base attempts this yead. Undaunted by the situation and his history of a lack of success, Diaz takes off for second base. An utterly meaningless stolen base, given the circumstance. Diaz is predictably thrown out to end the inning.

Here's my question: After Maui scores in the bottom of the 11th to win the game, is Diaz immediately executed, or do they give him a show trial first?

  3. He'll be summarily executed. Of course the stated mission is to capture him alive, but if he "resists" Los Amigos Mounties (an elite Canadian special forces unit) will have no choice but to take him down. But then who will Manager Dumbass use as the backup catcher?

  4. I just loaded up the game for the first time in two weeks. It's nice to see that Junior Cuomo will spend the next three seasons in Philadelphia with me. Now, I just need to remain vigilant if Ricky Peppers declines his mutual option for next season.

  5. Nice to finally get a win. That Saskatoon rotation is pretty impressive - it's been a real challenge to score runs.
