Is it me, or are the big FAs taking their time? Is it because teams are hesitant to offer them what they want (due to their collective end-of-career ages)? Or, just a quirk?
Anyway, this entry is probably the only time Bill Mobely will ever be mentioned in a blog post. He's just organizational filler.
For at least some of them, there appears to be a bidding war. For example, Frison's preferred offer has flipped back and forth a few times between Maui and Danville. Same for Manning.
I imagine they're mostly waiting to be sure no better offer is coming down the pike.
Yeah, I'm thinking Danville is going to win that particular bidding war. The AI is letting Danville make offers that would not be permitted if it had a human GM. To illustrate, Danville currently has $30.36 million in contract offers that are pending even though this would put Danville over budget (and over the $25 million it has in cash reserves) and almost $14 million over budget for next year. If any of the other owners tried to make such an offer, the game would not allow it. We'd get the "Your owner does not approve this deal" message because it would exceed the available money in future years. One of the many drawbacks of having a computer-run team, I suppose.
