  1. 19-inning game between New York and Shackamaxon on July 18. Love it! But no position players as pitchers, which is too bad.

  2. Interesting game, that one was. My starter and long-man pitched the first four innings, and my two setup relievers and closers pitched a total of 8.2 innings. Sounds about right for my team this year.

  3. Looking closer, that game gets more and more interesting. New York was an out away from a ho-hum 5-4 victory when the new guy, William Midkiff, tripled home the old guy, Ricky Peppers, to tie the game.

Stud 1B David Seibel went 0-for-9, while Cheung Ying and Felipe Mendoza had 4 and 5 hits, respectively. Collectively, the teams combined for 41 hits.

My bullpen had 15 consecutive shutout innings in the game. Not bad at all, guys.

Oh, and Mack: Congratulations to Seattle for finally winning a series against Shackamaxon this year. Hopefully, it's the only one.

  4. I prefer to concentrate on other things - take the July 24th game between NY and Atlanta. Here's an odd linescore -

    d-L. McCormick PH 1 2 0 0 1 0 1

That's one AB and 2 runs scored, just as a pitch-hitter.

Turns out the game was tied 8-8 going into the top of the 9th. After Royal Wilson walked and stole second, Larry McCormick was walked intentionally, coming around to score later on a bases-loaded HBP to Luis Jeon.
Later, McCormick came up again, as the 11th man up in the inning, and reached on a fielder's choice, making the first out of the inning! He scored again on a Luis Jeon groundout.
In all, we scored 11 runs in the top of the ninth, on 4 hits, 6 walks, 1 HBP and three errors. Royal Wilson and Armado Cedeno both walked twice in the inning. My bullpen held on for the 19-8 win.
This started a run of five straight wins to end the sim, in each of which the Gothams scored more than 10 runs.

And now I have a three game series with Seattle.

  5. [ahem] May 13-15.

    Seattle 2, Shackamaxon 0.
    Seattle 12, Shackamaxon 2.
    Seattle 4, Shackamaxon 5.

Don't feel too superior there, Michael.
