Seattle Scores Five In Seventh, Takes 2-0 Lead on Lenape

The Seattle Monarchs took Game 2 of the Cecil Cup from the Lenape with an 8-5 victory.  Seattle took a quick two run lead in the bottom of the first on a two run blast by Juan Gomez. The Lenape tied the game with a two run shot by Thomas Kalakay in the third.  Lucio Muniz put the Monarchs ahead again with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning, only to find the game tied again when Jose Molina launched a shot to right.

The score remained tied until the Seattle half of the seventh.  After Dewey Wilson grounded out, pinch hitter Ivan Castillo worked out a walk.  Lucio Muniz moved him to second with a single and after Castillo stole third, Steve Wilson was intentionally walked to load the bases.  Castillo then scored on a Juan Gomez ground out.  This was followed by a Norman Kuhn walk which brought up Jonathan Anderson.  Anderson launched a 3-1 pitch over the right field fence for a grand slam, giving Seattle a 8-3 lead.

The Lenape tried to come back in the next half inning, scoring two runs on a double, two singles and walk.  However, Miguel Martinez struck out looking to end the inning.  The Lenape were unable to score in the ninth, ending the game.
