  1. Son of a...

That's 3 starting pitchers in the last 2 sims that are done for the year. Guess this isn't going to be my year!

  2. Brian, I know where you are coming from. This league has always killed me with injuries. Everytime I think I am close...they knock me back.

  3. The only positive to come from this is that my top prospect is a lot happier now that I have a spot in the rotation for him. I was hoping to hold him back for at least part of this season so I didn't start his arbitration clock, but I guess we'll see what's he got.

    1. As long as he spends part of the year into minors, you still get the extra year of club control. The only downside is that extra year will have an inflated arbitration salary, but that's still better than free agency.

    2. Yeah - he's a guy that's I'll probably try to lock up for 5-6 years as soon as he's arbitration eligible, since it's so easy to get burned with a crazy arbitration ruling (and if he turns out like I think he will, it will be crazy).

I really hope my owner doesn't get spoiled by low payrolls and decid I don't need as much money, because this payroll is going to blow up when some of these guys hit years 4 and 5. Yi is already projected to make $7.5MM in arbitration in year 1 - yikes.

    3. I've generally been able to lock up players before they hit arbitration, but I've got a couple now who are refusing any long-term deals, even big ones. I wonder if the game finances have changed at all in a way that makes it more difficult to extend players early.

  4. Three things will happen in the next sim:

    1. The 2029 draft class will be announced, and we can start filling our draft lists.

    2. Minor league free agents signed with a major league option will need to be promoted by the start of the sim before getting the option to be a free agent. I know I had signed one such free agent and had to promote him so I wouldn't lose him.

    3. My team will face Brick and Antelope Valley back-to-back, and I'll find out if the hot start by my pitching staff was for real or not.

  6. I can't get any player worth extending to sign for more than one year: Ryan, Estrada, and now Baez won't sign for more than one year. As Baez is pre-arbitration, I'm going to hold off on another attempt until later. Maybe a year or two of success will change his mind.

Talamantez is with Brick now because he wouldn't talk extension with me.

    1. Bruno's free agency next year will be fascinating. I wonder if he'll get as much as he wanted for an extension from me.
