I actually meant to get this post out last night and didn't get to it. My apologies for not posting sooner about it.
This week is "pack up the kids for camp week" and it's been rather hectic. I'll do the sim on Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

The long and winding road leads to South Bay for veteran farmhand
It's been a long career for Joseph Hamilton. An original 29th-round draft pick by the then-Alaska Kodiaks, Hamilton, a right-hander with a deceptively sneaky slider, has toiled in the Stockholm/Florida/South Bay minor league system through all of their moves and championships. He has considered retiring a few times; He even was Rule V-eligible for the past few seasons, but no one wanted him.
But, now, his perseverance has paid off. Owner/GM Michael Weintraub called his cell phone after the Arizona Bay Tools' latest game. The 26-year old Hamilton, who had logged over 367 innings in his eight seasons shuffling between AAA and A, had finally made the Big Show.
"I didn't believe him at first," Hamilton said. "I thought he was telling me I was being traded."
Hamilton, who was 2-0 with a 2.61 ERA thus far this season with Arizona Bay, says he knew he was pitching well enough for a call-up, but has felt that way in the past. "It's a complete shock," he said. "My wife and I agreed that this would be my last year if I didn't make it. Now that I have, I hope I'll stick."
South Bay promoted Hamilton to take the roster spot of starter Boris Harris, who pulled his rotator cuff muscle and will be injured for close to two months. Veteran right-hander Troy Nelson will slide into the rotation to take Harris's spot, and Hamilton will fill Nelson's role as a middle-inning pitcher.
In 367 1/3 minor league innings, Hamilton was 12-17 with a 4.53 ERA, 335 strikeouts, and 4 saves.

2010 Preview - Defending Cecil Cup Champion Seattle Monarchs

The defending Cecil Cup Champions, the Seattle Monarchs, look forward to their finest season ever.
"We've brought back basically everyone from last year's team, including the entire starting line-up, rotation, and bullpen," said Owner/GM Mack Shultz. "We've got an excellent mix of veterans and youth. Our veteran leaders include last year's Adams League Outstanding Batter of the Year, outfielder George Rawlins. We've got starting pitcher Peter Bird, who turned the tide in last year's Cecil Cup, 2009 All World third baseman John Willer, and two bullpen mainstays in Mark Deschamps and Sam Contreras."
"We also have star players in the prime of their career, such as first baseman Greg Mudge, outfielder Sean Arant, the catching platoon of Waylon Blassingame and Stephen Herbert, stud starting pitcher Chad Nelligan and the best left handed reliever in baseball, Tim Vallejo."
"What people don't often realize though is that we have the second youngest team in baseball. A lot of key guys are 26 and under, including outfielder Lonnie Machen, three fifths of our starting rotation in Christopher Hester, Izzie Frau, and Isaac Diehl, and the middle of our infield in second bagger Frankie Armendariz and shortstop Carmelo Deleon.
"We also have a number of young superstars ready to burst onto the scene. Eugene Alustiza at third is going to be platooning with John Willer. Outfielders "Rimfire" Cedeno and "Bingo" Stelly are going to start the year in AAA Tacoma but will doubtlessly make their mark sometime this year. I mean, look at Cedeno, he posted a 1.089 OPS in his time in the majors last year and we've sent him back to AAA for goodness' sake."

With the foundation we've laid, I expect another 110 win season and to be back in the Cup series and bringing home championships for a number of years."
Coming off their first championship, fan interest has hit a record high level and Monarchs Vice-President of Business Gordon Gecko announced that every game this season already has been sold out.

2010 South Bay Scorpions season slogan announced
MARCH 31, 2010 -- REDONDO BEACH, CA
Nearly a half-million fans lined the pier and marina in lovely Redondo Beach, CA this afternoon to welcome the greatest franchise in SDMB OOTP league history back to the South Bay before the kickoff of their 9th season. At the festive party, star shortstop Ricky Peppers acted as MC, introducing his new teammates and the team's 2010 slogan: Recapture the glory!
"First, it's an honor to play with these other twenty-four players. Second, I want my second ring!" Peppers shouted.
In turn, Peppers introduced his new teammates:
"Ace reliever Johnny Cowherd, give it up for him! He strikes batters out as often as I don't strike out." Cowherd was acquired from Brookyln for former 2B Bill Turek in the offseason to add to the elite bullpen tandem of Junior Cuomo and Frank Carroll.
"Now, here's my man. I cried for weeks when he was traded to River Cities, and I'm so glad he's back with us. Ladies and gentlemen: Martin Baker!" Baker, who won two Cups with the franchise before being traded to the Paddlewheelers in 2008, where he won another Cup, brings veteran leadership to the team.
"I've won Cups here, and, yes, there," Baker told the crowd, which booed lustily at his reference to River City's 2008 championship. "And, after the disgrace that I felt last fall, I knew I had to come back to the team that can win the Cup. It's good to be home!"
3B Bill Johnson was acquired for SP Joe Daye, a deal that led to the Turek-for-Cowherd trade. "Bill and I were joking this morning at breakfast. I can't wait to stand next to this guy for 1,300 innings next year. Plus, he can hit." Johnson takes over the hot corner for the Scorpions, as Jeffrey Drewry, the starter at third base the past three seasons, and an All Star in 2009, will backup Johnson and new 2B starter Robert Young. Luis Jeon returns to first base, coming off a successful season with 36 home runs and an OPS of 895.
Reigning Outstanding Batter John Redman anchors the outfield, flanked by on-base machine Willie Klopp and dependable John McNabb.
Daye's departure led to openings in the rotation that were filled by Rocco Wojcik and Jeffrey Shuttleworth. The newcomers join mainstays Wendell Sorg, this season's Opening Day starter, and Casey Plunk, with last year's new guy Boris Harris beat out Troy Nelson for the last rotation spot.
Nelson won four Cecil Cups with the franchise and is back for his last go-around and final season in the league. Before the rally, he spent an hour this morning signing autographs for fans, some still in awe of his masterpiece one-hit shutout of Houston in the 2004 Cecil Cup, the game many in the South Bay, and elsewhere, point to as the start of the Scorpions dynasty.
Other new faces on the team are OF Kenneth Philpot and Rule V pick, 3B Christian Sitton. Philpot will see time in center field and be a primary pinch hitter off the bench. Sitton will spend the season learning from Johnson and Drewry, while occasionally coming off the bench as a pinch runner.
Backup infielder David McCrady, catcher Gerald Odum, and relievers Christopher Mooring and William Augustin round out the 25-man roster. Possible mid-season promotions linger in AAA Arizona Bay, where pitching phenom Anthony Koepp is all-but-ready to join the big team.
"I'm confident that we'll be back here in October with a fifth ring on Troy's and Casey's hands, and a second one on mine," Peppers proclaimed. "Let's recapture the glory together, guys!"
