Trade: Brick and Ohio

In a move that Ohio GM Brian Hockin may eventually regret, the Buckeyes have agreed to trade AAA C Fred Kennedy to Brick in exchange for AAA CF Marcos Rodriguez.

When approached for a quote, Hockin said "We just have too many catchers. Guillermo Medina came up last year mid-season and was our most consistent player, and now we've called up Jean-Charles Gauthier as his backup and to play some 1B. We just didn't have room for another catcher on the roster, and have been on the lookout for a good leadoff hitter for some time now"

Brick GM Fred Goldfarb could not be reached for comment, but rumor has it that maniacal laughter could be heard coming from his office.

• Upload your draft selections and (if you do), let Michael and I know that you sent one in (either via email or as a comment to this thread).
• Check the Traded Draft Picks page to make sure that all the draft picks that you acquired through drafts are there.  No claims for missed acquired draft picks will be entertained after the draft.

Brick/Shackamaxon trade

On the cusp of spring training, two Zotti Division rivals have made a trade to improve each other's fortunes. Shackamaxon sends AAA 2B Uksem Majaliwa and a sixth round pick in the upcoming draft to Brick for MR Bernardo Franco.

Delay

We're going to take a week off before running the next sim. Zev or I will let you know the upcoming schedule sometime next week or weekend.

Division Rivals Swap Future Stars

The World Champion Seattle Seahaw ... oh crap ... that wasn't a dream. Let me try again.

The World Champion Seattle Monarchs traded future star shortstop Javier Chalen to the Brick Barracudas in exchange for future star outfielder Brandon Thompson and Brick's first-round pick in the upcoming amateur draft.

"We're thrilled to add Brandon, sad to lose Javier, and don't know yet how to feel about the first-round pick," said Seattle team spokeswoman Katie Shultz. "That should clear up as soon as the draft is over though."

Team owner/GM Mack Shultz could not be reached for comment, as he entered his Fortress of Solitude late Sunday night in what has been described as a state of profound depression.

As a note, Shackamaxon signed young CF Jose Molina to a ten year contract extension.  I believe this is the first ten year contract in league history.

International Complex

Does anybody understand how the international complex is supposed to work in this version of the game? My plan was to keep my international players in the complex until (a) the players are were ready to start for my A-ball team, (b) the complex reaches the maximum limit of 50 players, or (c) the players age out of the complex.

Anyone have a better plan or better understanding of the complex that they're willing to share with the rest of the class?

Need a catcher?

Signing Barney Maxon has made Bobby Krieger somewhat redundant. He's an excellent backup catcher (.871 OPS/13.1 VORP in 167 AB last year and rated 82 at catcher) who could probably start, but he's behind both Maxon and George Robinson.

Instead of trying to stash Krieger at AAA, I'm looking to move him in a trade. I'm looking for a good bullpen prospect in return, preferably left-handed. I'd be willing to package a draft pick with Krieger for an elite arm, too.
