Seattle - London Trade

SEATTLE (AP) - The Seattle Monarchs today announced that they shipped promising outfield prospect Brandon Reed to the London Dragons in exchange for a third-round pick in next year's draft.

"Brandon felt that he deserved an opportunity to play in the majors," said Seattle Owner/GM Mack Shultz. "Unfortunately, he wasn't going to get that opportunity here. We reached out to Scott in London to see if he was interested. Given Brandon's obvious talent, Scott indicated that he was and the deal soon followed. We wish Brandon and the Dragons nothing but the best of luck in the upcoming season."

Shultz continued, "We don't always try to trade players in Brandon's situation. Sometimes, we have guys who pout if they're not on the major league roster. Usually, we just cut them. Watch the next transactions wire for some examples. But Brandon's a good kid who we felt could help another major-league team."

Reed was a third-round choice in the 2022 draft, making the third-round pick in this trade somewhat appropriate. Reed hit .288 and .283 in the last two seasons for Seattle's AAA affiliate and, the year before that, was named the AA Most Outstanding Hitter.
