Shackamaxon turns over its rotation

Coming into the 2021 season, the starting pitching for the Shackamaxon Lenape was supposed to be a strength of the team. Instead, the surging bullpen (anchored by the back-end of Cuomo/Sweeney/Stoker) has led the Lenape to having the best bullpen ERA in the game, while the starters are only ranked 8th.

After losing Elder Guzman to injury after two superlative April starts, his replacements have struggled to hold down the #5 spot in the rotation, and, incumbent #5 starter Tuan Olmstead has also had difficulties this season.

Well, things are changing, big-time in the Lenape rotation. Superstar (and, Philadelphia native) Joseph Macaluso has been acquired from Antelope Valley and is expected to anchor the top of the rotation. Guzman, missing since the early days of the season, returns from injury this sim. The rest of the Lenape rotation remains John Cooper, John Kautz, and Scott Loman. Olmstead will slot into the back end of the bullpen, barring another trade.

Heading to Antelope Valley are two promising youngsters, 2B Glenn Tate and SP Sergio Valenzuela.

"We are conceding the Zotti League title, for the regular season, at least, to Seattle," GM Michael Weintraub said. "But, we're going to be in a dogfight for the wild card spot. And, I'll go toe-to-toe against Seattle in a seven-game series with a rotation fronted by Joseph, Elder, and the Johns, anytime and anywhere."

The Shackamaxon Lenape, one of the most successful franchises in SDMB League history, remain the only team to ever win four consecutive Cecil Cups.
