OOTP 9 First Impressions?

Out of the Park Baseball 9 was released this past week. I remember several people saying that they pre-ordered it. Any first impressions?

  1. It's decent. It works on my Mac, which is huge. But I've noticed a decent number of bugs so far, specifically the fact that I have an injured player on my 40 man and my AAA roster, and I can't put him on the 60 day DL. That's bothersome. Also, I don't care about simming every northern league game, but I guess that's part of the deal now.

There's a few/bunch of play by play bugs, too, but nothing that ruins the game.

This is my first of the "Sim the world" OOTP versions. Prior to this, I had only played 3-6.5

So, I'd give it an 85%, so far. After a patch or two (I haven't installed the one that came out today), I'm sure it'll be better.

  2. IIRC, IRL, you can only add a player to the 60-day DL if your 40 man roster is full. Is it possible that the game is set up that way too?

  3. I, honestly, haven't had too much time to play with it yet, but it does seem like a nice upgrade from 6.5. And, like Mike says, it works on a Mac, and beautifully. (It looks ugly on a Mac, however.)

I tried importing an old season from our league, and got errors. I don't know if it was something I did wrong, and not a bug in the game that caused the problem. I'll play with it more later this week.

  4. I've played it a few hours and am about a third of the way through the first season of a MLB-based league. So far, it seems to have avoided the things in OOTP 7 that drove me insane and caused me to avoid OOTP 8 (primarily, the overly complicated scouting system).
