Welcome To Opening Day 2013!

It's that time of year! Welcome to Opening Day! The grass is green, the mound is inviting and, as Ernie says, let's play two.

Unless there are strong objections, I'm going to change the sim schedule a bit. Instead of doing a two-week sim, Instead we'll do a half-month sim. Thus, the first sim will be Apr 1 - 15, the next sim Apr 16-30, the following sim May 1 - 15, the next one May 16-30, etc. The few games in October before the playoffs will have their own sim (i.e. they won't be appended to the September 16-30 sim).

Please note that I updated the links on the right side of the blog to reflect the new version of the game. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Apr I sim will be Thursday night.

  1. Just wondering if there are promo days in OOTP9?

  2. Actually, until we get our sea legs, I wouldn't mind slowing down the regular season sims. Meaning, let's just sim one week at a time until we get the hang of things with our "new" teams in the game.

  3. I like the new proposed sim schedule, as it works better with the 15 day DL.

But, I'm not adverse to Michael's "take it easy at first" approach either.

  4. By the way, what did other people get in their news report from the "owner" as to the season expectations?

Fortunately, Seattle's owner set the bar nice and low, at winning the championship.

Also, who is this mysterious owner? The "family men" who loaned me the money to buy the team in the first place?

  5. Well my 'owner' wants me to go .500...considering I had well over 100 loses in 2012, I think that should be in line. What happens when I win less than 81 games this season?

  6. I must be Mack's secret owner, as I expect my team to win the Cup each season, too.

Instead, LA's owner expects a piddling .500 record this season.

  7. My owner also wants my team to play .500 ball. Yeah, right! I just hope Zev has checked the "cannot be fired" box...

  8. I, for one, like seeing two of my relief-to-conversion projects now listed as the #1 and #3 prospects by Baseball America. That's quite a come up in the world for them.

As for my expectations from the owner: only to win it all. I don't know if he's talking about the series or 162 games in a row or what. I suppose I'll find out.

  9. Somehow, I'm not quite as enamored of two "starting" pitchers with endurances less than 60 as Baseball America. But, it's still a nice superficial designation, Nate.

  10. I can't wait for the season to start. First, the Monarchs get to seek redemption for last year's Cecil Cup failure. Second, we get wild cards for the first time in league history, which is great. Third, with the upgrade, I don't know how good anyone is any more, so there's much more uncertainty to resolve.

So, all in all, let's bring it on!

P.S. Zev, don't you dare delay this sim.

  11. Believe me, no one's more anxious for the season to start than I am.

So, if Zev misses the mark tonight (and he tells me it's still on), there will be a sim at about 10pm PST/1am EST.

I also noticed that there are no waiver or DFA periods in the league, and notified Zev. We'll fix that in tonight's sim.
