Sim 1 Done

First things first -- the teams who uploaded are:

Danville
Hickory
Houston
Los Angeles
Maui
New York
Ohio
River Cities
Saskatoon
Seattle

Now then, on to the important stuff:

In the Adams Division, Cleveland leads by one game over Cleveland
In the Zotti Division, it's Seattle leading by one game over Saskatoon
Lastly, in the Signorino, Maui holds a two game lead over Houston.

Other news items:

Ohio picks up C James Hardman for $9,000,000.
Seattle's 2B Carmelo Deleon won't play until next April after tearing a thigh muscle.
Maui's Diego Mijangos won't be throwing out of the bullpen anymore. His career is over after tearing a back muscle.
Cleveland's slugger John Grondin went 5 for 5 (with a homer) against Saskatoon on 4/6.
Los Angeles SS Ricky Peppers was named the Player of the Week, going 15/27 with 3 homers.

Next sim: next Saturday night.

  1. I know I uploaded, but I guess it does not always take. At least I did not do to bad with my spring training linups and pitching rotation in play...

  2. Hey, the news settings in the uploads are wrong. Only the last X days are being sent. You need to change that setting to the length of the sim or we here in league-land get a bunch of blank news stories.

  3. We also don't have boxscores for all of the games.

Zev, would it be possible for you, sometime this week, to reupload the league file with the full 15 days of news and boxscores? You don't need to sim any additional days, just reupload with the league file settings changed to 15 days.

And, if you can do that, please let us all know on the blog when the renewed league file is up. Thanks.

P.S. Kudos to you and Michael for getting us through the latter part of this offseason at a really brisk pace. I really appreciated it.

  4. I already uploaded my changes on the night of the last sim. If Zev reuploads the league file again, will my previous upload take, or will I have to do it all over again?

  5. My understanding is that the upload will work fine, at least until Zev sims an additional day. So, if Zev just re-uploads the file with more days of news, box scores, and game logs, your update should still work fine. Of course, Zev could always download team updates before re-uploading the league file, which would make things more certain.

Alternatively, Zev could just wait until after the next sim and then upload 30 days of news, game logs, and box scores. That would retroactively fill in the gap.

Or he could just tell Nate and me to stop whining, which is usually a wise course of action in all contexts.

  6. Mack is correct about Zev needing to just re-upload the league file without simming anymore days. Your team upload would be safe in that condition, Matt.

In non-admin news: Wow, does my team stink. Ricky Peppers aside, there's nothing good about my team's start, unless there's a can't-miss pitching prospect in next season's draft, like Stephen Strasbourg. Then I wouldn't feel so bad about losing 115 games.

  7. As to the actual games, what a sim of highs and lows. Love the start the team is off to, especially Cruz's 0.00 ERA and Kerry's 7 home runs. And, on a sentimental note, Greg "Mr. Monarch" Mudge is now just 11 away from being the game's first 400-HR man. Add that to a league-best 10-3 record and it's hard to complain.

But, to lose Carmelo "Gimp" Deleon for the entire season in the first sim? Ouch. I guess he really is a gimp now.

Hopefully between Ferrer, Bivens, and Reyes, I will be able to cobble together an adequate replacement. I was already breaking in Dick Bender (my favorite OOTP name ever) at shortstop, so it's a youth movement in the Monarchs middle infield. Defense should be better, but the offense is a question mark there going forward.

  8. OK, I've updated the league pages so that you can at least see what happened.

However, after going through the menus, I don't see the setting for this. If someone would be kind enough to tell me where it is, I'll be more than happy to re-upload the file.

    Thanks,

    Zev

  9. Zev-

    It's in the upload section.

    Go to Game Setup
    Go to Online Options
    Go to Upload League Files
The top four lines indicate how many days worth of data to compile into the file that will be uploaded/transmitted/however you choose to do it

  10. Hey, Zev - will sims generally be run on Saturdays for this season, or will be going back to a weekday schedule eventually? It doesn't matter to me either way, but I need to make sure I have management time set aside at the appropriate point during the week.

  11. Thanks for the update Zev. Now I can see, for instance, that the Monarchs hit grand slams in all three games against Los Angeles. I like knowing that kind of trivia. (grin)

  12. I think I also gave up a grand slam in a game against Danville, too. I wonder what's the record for most grand slams surrendered in a season; I'm sure I'll shatter it.

The new alignment has introduced some new, or renewed, rivalries. Nearly ten years after I beat Seattle in seven games for my third Cecil Cup in three years, Mack finally has got his revenge on me by sweeping my pathetic team.

And, I finally got to play Zev for the first time, ever. He's winning the Commissioner's Bowl, two games to one, thus far.

  13. I agree with the Michael, I am a big fan of the 3 division play and the interleague play. It is fun to play some of thse other teams for the first time.

As for my Steamers, I am very hppy with the first 2 weeks of the season. Even without last year's Cy Young winner Kaler, I managed to go 9-4 with Gerth winning his first 2 starts and #5 starter Pio Rameriz having a 0.60 ERA on the young season. And who can say enough about 3B Grondin. If he keeps this up, this will be a season for the recordbooks. I sure do wish we had a DH in this league because he would be the best DH EVER (He already has 2 errors in 12 games at 3B, the first of many this season I am sure).

I am looking forward to the rest of the season to see if I can hold of Hickory and River Cities and Brooklyn in the New Adams division.

  14. I'm not saying I'm a fan of it, Jeremy. If the schedules are this mixed, we really should just have one 12-team league, with the top 4 making the post-season.

But that's an argument for another offseason.
