July II Sim Done -- Trading Deadline

Game Date:  July 30, 2024

As usual, I have stopped the July II sim a day earlier, to allow for another week of trading before the trading deadline.

Standings:
Adams:  Brooklyn is five games ahead of Hickory.
Zotti:  Seattle's lead over Shackamaxon stands at eleven games.
Signorino:  Maui has a five game lead over New York.
Wild Card:  Hickory is two games ahead of New York.

Awards & Accomplishments:
Antelope Valley RF Ray McJannett named Player of the Week -- twice! (7/8 & 7/15)
Atlanta's Joseph Barnett hits for the cycle (7/16)
Atlanta RF Adrian Cisneros named Player of the Week -- (7/22)
Atlanta RF Jorge Gonzales named Player of the Week (7/29)

Significant Injuries:
Ohio starter Thomas Moore is done for the year with bone chips in his elbow.
Seattle is going to be without Steve "Sinner" Jones for seven weeks.  He's out with a sprained ankle.
Seattle CF Bas Bijkerk will miss three weeks with a strained rib cage muscle.
David Seibel will be absent from the playing field for Shackamaxon.  His herniated disk will sideline him for two months.
Ohio RF Lawrence Gould will be out for three weeks after being hit on the foot by a pitch.
Houston's Nigel Bryant has plantar fascitis and will miss 5-6 weeks.
Brooklyn reliever Juan Diaz's shoulder inflammation will sideline him for the rest of the season.
Seattle LF Jonathan Anderson bruised his wrist.  He's out for 3-4 weeks for the second time this season.
Houston SP Bartolo Olivarez will miss 2-3 months with a torn triceps.

Milestones:
Hickory's George LaBarre slugged his 300th home run.
Maui SP Juan Villatoro becomes the first pitcher in SDMB history to reach the magical 300 win plateau.

Next sim:  Next Wednesday.

  1. I should wrap John Grondin in bubble-wrap, as he's my only starting infielder not to get a major injury this season.

  2. Injuries suck. I understand that nobody wants to hear me whine, but I've now lost my starting catcher, first baseman, leftfielder, and centerfielder to two multi-week injuries each. My third baseman and two starting pitchers have also gone down with serious injuries. Ugh.

    At least my backups are all getting a lot of playing time this season. Is that a bright spot?
