After last night's sim (which Zev ran, but didn't post about), we're getting close to the Rule 5 draft. Please check that you don't have any prospects you want to lose in the draft (they'll show up with a hash mark # next to their name on your transaction screen), and add them to your 40-man rosters.
Also, if you recently signed a free agent to a major league contract, he'll need to be added to your 40-man roster, too, or else they'll appear eligible for the Rule 5 draft.
A reminder: If you wish to make a selection in the Rule 5 draft, you must have room on your 40-man roster for the player at the time of the draft (so DFA whom you need to, now), and must remain on your 25-man roster throughout the next season.
Any questions?

Former Seattle Prospect Killed In Bizzare Game Assault
The sports world was shocked today, when 49ers defensive end and former Monarchs prospect George Webb was killed in his first NFL game at Seattle's CenturyLink Stadium.
The rookie defensive end for the San Fransisco 49ers was lined up at the line of scrimmage against the Seattle Seahawks for the first play of his NFL career. He was booed heavily by the Seattle fans as he stepped out onto the field.
"Perhaps having him start in Seattle was a mistake," reflected 49ers head coach Al Markin. "I mean, I know the fans were looking forward to seeing him in a Monarchs uniform one day, but I didn't think anything of it."
When asked if he had any concern when the cheering in the stands rose to deafening levels when "Kill Webb!! Kill Webb!!" was displayed on the jumbo screen, Markin said "Nah, I didn't think too much of it. Happens all the time, after all."
Opposite Webb on the field was the famed Seattle offensive line of James "Killer" Crusher, Ted "Theodore" Bundy, Craig "Juggernaut" Zbornack, Tommy "Kill-em-And-Rip-Their-Arms-Off" Marks and "Big, Mean and Ugly" Pete Gramkin.
"Hell, I'm a huge Monarchs fan," said Gramkin. "If I didn't weigh 450 pounds, I might have tried out for the Monarchs. I live, eat and breathe the Monarchs. This football thing is just a side gig to earn some money so I can buy Monarchs' T-shirts and memorabilia. Nobody in this town really likes any other sport -- it's really all about the Monarchs. Thank heavens baseball has an off-season, or else I'd be out of work."
On the first snap of the game, as soon as the ball was snapped to the Seahawks quarterback, the offensive line rushed forward in unison towards Webb. The terrified defensive end started to retreat from the offensive line, but was not fast enough. Before he knew it, he was buried under the offensive linemen. As the play ended and the refs threw down the penalty flag, Crusher and Bundy held Webb down while Marks ripped off Webb's arm and beat him to death with it.
The crowd cheered wildly as Marks continued beating the dead 49ers with his own arm. After a minute or so, Marks ran off the field and jumped into his new car, purchased at Hubbard Motors and sped off.
The refs issued a ten yard penalty to the Seahawks.
"Personally, I'm glad it happened," said Seattle fan Shack Multz. "He was a disgrace to this town. If only he weren't just a collection of ones and zeros on a hard drive somewhere."

Saying Goodbye To Two Of The Greats
I'd probably be remiss if I didn't mention that two of the all time greats of the SDMB OOTP league retired this offseason.
You could easily make the case that first baseman Luis Jeon was the best hitter the league ever produced. Jeon retires in first place in many of the league's offensive categories. Jeon is either the leader or in the top 10 in the following categories:
Games, 2888 (1st)
At-Bats, 10119 (1st)
Runs, 1857 (1st)
Hits, 2559 (3rd)
Total Bases 5101 (1st)
Doubles 475 (2nd)
Home Runs 665 (1st)
RBI 1900 (1st)
Walks 1878 (1st)
His mark of 56 home runs during the 2020 season still stands as an all-time record. I still recall the decision I had to make after the 2019 season. Jeon was coming off a contract and had a sub-par year. I figured that, at age 34, Jeon was probably done, and so I let him walk. He went to New York and put up incredible numbers that year -- .285/.419/.628/1.047. Needless to say, after that season, I seriously questioned my decision the previous off-season.
This off-season also saw the retirement of RF Paul Shunk. Shunk spent the majority of his career with the Hickory Huskers. He leaves the league with a .284 average, .865 OPS, (127 OPS+), 2525 hits, 500 home runs, 1569 RBI and 124 stolen bases.
Both players will, no doubt, end up enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

First OOTP15 trade
As per tradition, Mack and I have made the first trade in the new version of the game. This time, Seattle sends OF Guy Imbeault to Shackamaxon in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2025 draft.

Given the fact that at least one person is having trouble with the download and it's time to decide on contract options, I'm going to hold off on the sim until Tuesday.
