The Shackamaxon Lenape are now one victory away from capturing the 2025 Cecil Cup, thanks to a 7-1 victory over the Seattle Monarchs.
The Lenape began their assault in the second with three runs on singles by Robert Roberts and Steve Keo. Seattle responded with a run in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double by Steve Jones. However, Bruce Roughly kept the Monarchs off the board until the ninth when Kwang-sub Kim came in to finish the game. The only time that Seattle even had a chance to score another run was in the fourth when Terry Hubbard led off the inning with a triple, but was stranded there when the next two batters struck out and the the last grounded out.
Game six: Thursday night.
Nice! It seems that the last game of the season in Shackamaxon (aka Philadelphia) was a rousing success. Having all-time great franchise hero Troy Nelson fire a strike for the ceremonial first pitch was a great start.
