Does anybody understand how the international complex is supposed to work in this version of the game? My plan was to keep my international players in the complex until (a) the players are were ready to start for my A-ball team, (b) the complex reaches the maximum limit of 50 players, or (c) the players age out of the complex.
Anyone have a better plan or better understanding of the complex that they're willing to share with the rest of the class?
That was my understanding - you could manually promote them, but otherwise they are supposed to stay until the age-out or you run out of room. Are you seeing something different? All of my international players are young and terrible, so I don't think they're going anywhere for a while.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone snagged a good (or even a little good - 2-3 stars) international player? In past versions, that was always a good way to get talent - I would get at least 1 guy who had some potential every year, and every few years a solid player would come along. I'm not seeing that with the new international complex (which is maybe more realistic?)
My perception of the quality of international players matches yours, Brian. I have one guy who my scout likes, but I'm pretty sure my scout is wrong. Otherwise, the best player my scout sees league-wide in the international complex is only 1.5*.
ReplyDeleteIf I get my historical chart updated, I'm planning to look back at international signings under prior versions of the game to see what the hit rate there was. I think it's much, much higher than the current version seems to be.
Did we have too many 16 year old signings in the old version of the game, though? I thought that was the purpose of the international complex: to have developmental players who aren't even ready for single A.
ReplyDeleteI just promoted a guy to single A, and will keep an eye on him this season.
I actually had this question earlier in the offseason and started to read the forums. They don't seem to know either. They basically say, if they look good promote, if they don't wait until they are of age to go to the lowest level and see if they work.
ReplyDeleteI am planning on putting the max into scouting and upping my international budget this upcoming year to see if maybe that will yield more/better international talent.
Just as a data point, I threw pretty much the maximum into international scouting last year. Didn't seem to result in any quality prospects.
