ReplyDeleteI have stated Ricky Peppers's case for the Hall of Fame many times, most recently when naming him to my franchise's 25th Anniversary Team.
His stats are excellent, but perhaps the most impressive stat to me was that he was twelfth all time in at bats, but is not in the top 100 all time in strikeouts.
That alone should make him get your vote. #VoteRicky
As someone who’s been with the league since its inception (there are four or five of us), here’s my list of three players who I think clearly deserves a plaque in the Hall of Fame.
ReplyDeleteTimothy Vallejo: #2 in career saves, despite spending at least five years as the premiere set-up reliever instead of a closer. #1 in career games pitched. #4 in career ERA. #1 in career WHIP. Should be in the Hall to argue with Junior Cuomo about who really was better.
John Okane: Perhaps my worst trade ever was giving up on this guy in his youth. #1 in games started. #3 in wins. #1 in strikeouts. #1 in innings pitched. In the top five in WAR. One of the best.
Ricky Peppers: See Michael’s comment and prior posts. An obvious choice.
