Amazing Accomplishment Award

I'm starting to go through team stats for the recently completed season and wanted to call out the biggest defensive turnaround ever in our league. Houston dropped its ERA this year by almost two full runs, going from 6.64 last year to 4.68 this year. That's incredible,

Looking back, the three biggest drops in team ERA I found were substantially less:

  • Shackamaxon (then Los Angeles) dropped from 5.57 to 3.92 in 2016-17.
  • Atlanta (then Cleveland) dropped from 5.26 to 3.96 in 2013-14.
  • Brick dropped from 5.30 to 4.13 in 2025-26.

Hopefully, Will can share some of what he did, but a quick glance makes me believe that he added some new pitchers, got better performances from some he kept, and improved the defense behind them. Regardless though, that's a phenomenal improvement.
