Last Week's Trivia Question:
Who are the only players to hit home runs both as a teenager and after the age of 40?
Of the four people who have accomplished this feat, three were correctly guessed. Ty Cobb (answered by Fred), Alex Rodriguez (Brian) and Garry Sheffield (Matt) are three of the four. The one that remained was Rusty Staub.
Hank Aaron, the other player guessed, hit his first home run (off Vic Raschi) on Apr 23 1954 -- two months after his 20th birthday.
This Week's Trivia Question:
Who holds the record for hitting the most home runs in his final season in the majors?
Next Sim: Next Wednesday, when we will bring the regular season to a close.
My guess on the trivia question is Barry Bonds. Only a guess though.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be morbid and guess Roberto Clemente.
ReplyDeleteMy initial thought was Clemente, but he played at a time when there were a lot fewer home runs.
DeleteI'll take a shot at it with Dave Kingman
ReplyDeleteDavid Ortiz has to be near the top of this list.
ReplyDeleteWell, Brian and Bill, I hope you're not counting on me beating you to finish tanking for prime draft spot positioning. I'm resting all of my regulars and playoff rotation this sim. To fill in my roster, I promoted a half-dozen minor league scrubs (including from the Low A team) to serve as warm bodies before being released.
ReplyDeleteHello starting shortstop Luis Trujillo! Hello closer Len McCulloch!
(Note to self: Restore my lineup and rotation back to normal on Thursday morning.)
