2006 was released today. I was planning to download it tonight, but a quick glance at the forums turned up a lot of apparent discontent, so I think I may give it a week or two. Anybody have it?
I'll for certain be getting it. Another league I'm in will be upgrading after the current season. But I think, given how complex it is and how large an upgrade, it would be best to let Marcus and company work out some bugs prior to our adopting it.
Well, I bought it over the weekend. And I am utterly fucking bewildered. I can't figure out anything. At this point I don't even know if I can play it.
I downloaded the game and licensed it over the weekend, but didn't have the chance to explore. I did read through the game guide last night though and am presently under the illusion that I have a clue about the game.
The primary thought I had from the guide is that there may be too much depth offered in this version. For example, the scouting system, as described in the guide, is astonishingly complex. I wouldn't want to turn it off and be left with the true values, but it seems like I'll spend forever just telling my army of scouts what to do.
When you combine that with the ability to simulate every level of U.S. and foreign professional baseball, well I think I'm going to be starting small and seeing how it goes.
I, too, got it over the weekend and am also bewildered. I tried to import a league in which I ran one team as a human GM, but it wouldn't let me control that team after it was imported. Instead, I was created as a lowly manager, offered AA jobs in other farm systems.
I will say, though, that it is a lot faster than 6.5 in simulating a season.
I'll probably have to wait until the weekend before I can clear the family out enough to pay attention.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait though.

ReplyDeleteDid you download the game guide?

Yes. And it's 350 pages of not-terribly well written guide. Oofah.
