He's never going to win an Outstanding Hitter award, and would be lucky even to be named player of the week, but still, David Rivard deserves some recognition for keeping my offense churning in the midst of injuries to Brian Frison, Michael Fay, and John Sadao.
Rivard wasn't even on my major-league roster to begin the year, but made the most of his opportunity when 5th OF Maxwell Teixeira got injured in spring training (and was later released).

Some Notes for the Next Sim
Firstly, Seattle and Saskatoon are no longer tied!
Secondly, the next sim will be Saturday night, August 4. That's in about a week and a half.
Thirdly, the next sim is the last one before the trading deadline, so make sure you get those trades in.
Lastly, we've heard from Mark, so I've taken the Denver team off of computer control.

New York and Walla Walla trade
Monday, July 8, 2010: New York's GM is pleased to announce the acquisition today of OF Richard Bilbrey from Walla Walla, in exchange for minor league SP Danny Andrews.
"With the season ending injury to Juan David, we needed another outfielder, and Richard fits the bill perfectly. He's got proven major league skills, with 26 home runs last year and a .590 SLG in limited playing time this year. He slots right in in left right now for us. He's just entering the prime of his career now.
"Danny Andrews is a heck of a chip to give up in return - one of the top young SP prospects in the game. But with Freddy Thomas and Josh Giddings also in our system, we were in a position of strength there. I feel this trade should meet the needs of both teams."

River Cities and the Case of the Vanishing Offense
Some of you may have noticed that, while I'm still in first, certain things haven't happened this year that did last year. Notably, my offense hasn't happened.
1B Caufield. Doing as well as can be expected. AVG up 7 points to .290. OPS down 18 points. Projected HR falls from 13 in 2009 to 7 this year.
2B Palacio. Major Drop Off! AVG down 33 points. OPS down 39 points. HR actually trending up with his 2010 projection of 20 up from 13 last year.
3B Fout. Oof. After averaging 37 HR over the last four years due to injury and general drop off he's on pace for 16 this year. In addition, his AVG dropped 80 points and his OPS 168 points. Definitely an off year for the 31 year old slugger.
SS Hukill. Last year's ROY and leading MVP candidate for this season he's seen his AVG drop 24 points and his OPS drop 62 points. HR project to 31 which is down a bit from 2009's 37.
RF Valdez. Other numbers are up but the slugger his ZERO HR in April and is projected to go from 42 HR in 2009 to 27 this year.
Thank goodness for my supersonic pitching. Someone's got to bail me out here.
