River Cities captured the 2012 Cecil Cup today with a 6-5 victory over Seattle. This is the second title for River Cities, having won the 2008 cup against the Seattle Monarchs.

Well, River Cities kicked the Monarchs' tail all series long. Of course, it's not that you were better. The Ewing effect of Hukill and Wheeler's loss was too simply strong for anyone to overcome. :)
ReplyDeleteCuriously, we're now tied at 14 wins each over the last 5 Cecil Cups. I guess I'm just glad that the games broke in a way that I got three titles rather than two.
In any case, the highest scoring team in SDMB OOTP history now has a championship to cap its season. A well-deserved congratulations to you, Nate.
Congrats, Nate! The Zotti League finally demonstrates its superiority!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's nice for the good guys for once, right? Woot!
ReplyDeleteI'm stunned by the individual performances we've seen. I thought this would be a matchup between my offense, minus Hukill dammit, against Mack's truly dominant pitching.
Not so, apparently.
My offense held up remarkably well against Mack's starters.
Suarez .450 2 5
Marzano .368 1 4
Valdez .333 2 6
Callahan .316 1 5
Ichiro .389 2 6
Armendariz .250 2 6
I guess it's that consistent pattern that did in Mack this time around. His starters, awesome in the extreme, didn't come through this time.
Nelligan 8.71 0-2
Macalusco 16.20 0-1
Hester 1.42 0-0
Placenia 1.50 1-0
Nelligan was the big surprise there. The Outstanding Pitcher winner just didn't have anything in the tank for the playoffs.
Villatoro, on the other hand, even on short rest in game four, brought his A game.
Villatoro 0.63 2-0
He's my choice for playoff MVP.
