Welcome to the 2015 Draft

Since enough people seem to want to use the in-game draft list feature, we'll give it a go.

I'm sure some owners will need some time to learn how to use it. I still have to learn how to use it from my end. :)

So, we'll schedule the draft for next Wednesday.

As an aside, I know that some owners are frustrated over the the vast disparity in the quality of the scouts. Frank had a suggestion in the last post about using a feeder league to at least give owners some stats to look at for draft choices, which are at least somewhat more objective than scout's ratings (and a measure that would be the same for all owners).

Would you like to have a college feeder league? Discuss.

  1. I do like feeder leagues, college and high school

  2. Sure. I'd like to see both. We implemented them in the OEL and it's fun to see.

  3. Well, I just filled out my draft list. Stretching it I got eight players on it. Urgh.

  4. I think a few things we can do to help the quality of the draft...

Create more players than we will draft. For example, create a draft pool for 15 rounds if we have 10. Right now, we only have 132 players for 10 rounds, which is equal to just 11 rounds worth of players. If we created more players, there will be more quality players.

College and/or high school feeder leagues is both fun and very useful. I very much support adding at least one to our game.

  5. Umm, is there any reason why I can't access the draft list page anymore? Is it because I'm a commissioner? All I see is the Draft Order and Rules page, as well as the Continue Draft tab.

  6. There are two options on the drop down menu. The first is for the Draft and the second is for the Draft List, you can change everything there.

  7. I just want to throw out that, depending on where you look, I've seen recommendations for either four rounds of amateur draft per minor league or for five rounds of draft per minor league. We only have ten rounds of draft for three leagues.

I'd honestly like to expand the draft to 15 rounds, creating enough players for 18 or 20 rounds.

I also support adding a feeder league. And, having been through it in the OEL, I'd offer to help Zev figure out the mechanics of how to add it and make it work.

But, to me, that's not as big a deal as adding additional rounds to the draft.

  8. I'm cool with one or more feeder leagues.

I also think Michael's suggestion about expanding the number of draftees is a good one. More players = more talent from which to choose.
