  1. Well, it looks like the Tyler Thomas era in Cleveland might be over (Unless I make the playoffs, which seems unlikely right now). I had quietly been shopping him around, but I guess that is done. And I defiantly do not plan on picking up the $23M option that he has for next season.

He has been a very important part of the worst to first transition of the Steamers, and his contributions will be recognized with a ceremony close to the end of the season.

The Steamers have made the playoffs in each of the 3 seasons that Tyler has been on the team, 2014, 2015 and 2016, making the Cecil Cup in '14 and '15 years before it was projected for them to do so.

He brought the senior leadership that the team needed and provided the spark that the offense was looking for in most situations. He had 68 HRs and 354 RBIs in his three plus years in the white uniforms. He also batted over .300 in that time and always seemed to get the big hit when needed.

All in all, he will be missed in the middle of the Steamer lineup and the team will be a little less productive than before.

Tyler Thomas, the Steamer Organization thanks you for your seasons of hard work!!!

  2. I'll take where I'm at, God knows.

Villatoro has 9(!!!) wins in the first two months!

Valdes has 19 home runs in the same time frame.

The two rookies I was hoping for, Fournier and Walker, are both producing well.

    Walker: .321/.383/.542
    Fournier: .292/.326/.438

The all-new bullpen is still performing with a record of 10-2 and K/BB through the roof. Who knew one of those could be so important?

Let's see what June and July bring!

  3. A solid 9-6 sim leaves the Monarchs with the third-best record overall and in the wild card seat. That will work.

We lost infielder and key OBP threat Eugene Alustiza for two full weeks, but rookie Gregorio Reyna (previously 0-7 with one walk in his major league career) stepped in and hit .360/.384/.620. I'll take that kind of production from the bench any time at all. All the more impressive since trade rumors have been swirling around him since the past offseason.

And, the Monarchs' big three pitchers have been joined by a fourth strong starter, as young Floyd Crown is 6-3 with a 4.00 ERA but an even better 2.80 component ERA. Hopefully he can continue to pitch well as Crown really suits the Monarchs. (Ha!)
