Once again, my team performs better when I'm not around to meddle, sprinting out to a 23-5 start. Maybe I'll have to take another lengthy vacation when playoff time rolls around.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm definitely not complaining about the first month, I would like longtime nemesis but the newly allied John Hukill to shake off his slow start. I'd prefer not to have paid a ton of money for a player who's already finished his decline. It seems to just be a low batting average though, as his walks and home runs are fine. A hot streak may cure his ills.
I am thrilled though with the great start of Enrico Hernandez. It's always a good time to develop a new ace.
No complains from Philadelphia, except that the Zotti division is ridiculously talented and it's going to be a three-maybe-four team dogfight. Losing Lawrence for two sims is hopefully not going to hurt, too much, as my pitching is improving (I screwed up the 7-day-lineups in the opening sim and gave a few starts to my middle relievers) and the offense continues to mash the ball.
ReplyDeleteThere are a few oddities from my hot start. My leadoff and #7 hitters lead the team in RBIs, Michael Slye (my starting LF) has zero home runs, and, while I expected Ricky Peppers to start his decline at age 36, he realized it's a contract year, so he has a 988 OPS through the first month. So much for resigning him to a sweetheart hometown discount/retirement contract this offseason.
