The Maui Mashers continued their dominance over Saskatoon with a 7-1 victory in the Aloha State. The heroes of the game for Maui were 3B Bruce Parker, who was 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI, and starter Anibal Ottoman who pitched a five-hit complete game.
Over in the Pacific northwest, Hickory managed to hold off the Seattle Monarchs and take a 3-2 victory. The Huskers lead 3-0 after the top of the third. Seattle tried to make their way back but were unable to do so, despite a two run home run by Richard Bender in the eighth.
Game 3 will be simmed on Saturday night.
If I'm not mistaken, this is only Okane's first career playoff win. Hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteOK, Hunnicutt. I've held on to you relentlessly since the day I came to Hickory. Extended your contract even after your crappier years. Resisted attempts to include you in trades. Run you out year after year. All because for every four mediocre starts, you manage one 2-hit, 10-strikeout shutout.
ReplyDeleteWin this one. Just this one. Give the underdogs a chance to win it with Turner and Okane.
Just. This. One.
This has an air of familiarity to it. In fact, last season at this same time, Seattle lost to Hickory by a score of 3-2 in Game Two, leaving the series tied at one game each.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the Monarchs can win three in a row just as we did last year. That would be nice.
Well, at least from my perspective. I doubt very much if anyone else in the league is eager to see Seattle win again.
