The Brooklyn Starting Rotation... Who'd Have Thunk It?

The Wolves rotation has been nothing short of horrendous so far this year.

Four members of the rotation are hold-overs from the team that made the playoffs last year:

Nicholas Vargas (last year 15-5, 3.87) is 1-3, 6.89.
Kevin Kepner (last year -- pitcher of the year, 18-8, 3.08) is 1-4, 9.36 (!)
William Lawrence (last year 10-14, 5.18) is 1-3, 5.56
Sean Rice (67 games in relief, 3.35) is 1-1, 7.16.

Who's the only bright spot in the rotation?

The 35-year-old journeyman with not a single major league game under his belt whom I took a flier on in the Rule 5 draft -- Timothy Conroy who, in six starts, is 3-2 with a 3.95 ERA.

  1. That would explain Dennis Durand's complete collapse as a major league starter.

My old rule used to be "Don't trade for pitchers from Seattle", but now it's "Avoid Brooklyn's cast-offs."
