Errant Pick Off Throw By Rivera Puts Monarchs Within One Game of Another Title

With the score tied at three apiece, two out and the bases loaded in the seventh inning, London reliever Victor Rivera attempted a pick-off throw at first base to catch backstop Steve Jones off the bag.  However, in his rush to get the catch Jones napping, the throw went wide of first base, allowing Dewey Wilson to score with the go-ahead run.

Game Six:  Wednesday night.

  1. Why would a pick off throw at first with the bases loaded even be a thing? Interesting game sometimes.

  2. Not to nitpick Zev, but I think there were runners at the corners when the errant pickoff throw happened. At least, that's how I read the game log.

Still a crappy way for London to lose a game.
