Here Comes The Rain Again...

Three owners did not have their rosters set to 25.  I'm going to hold the Opening Day sim until tomorrow night before I begin taking unilateral action (which I really, really, really don't want to do).

  1. (Speaking as an owner here, not as a commissioner.)

In OOTP17, we now have a way to manipulate the draft offline, which allows us to create a supplemental round.

How about we either reward owners who don't cause a delay of Opening Day with a supplemental pick, or punish those who do by taking away draft pick(s)?

  2. Hmmm... I've been thinking (for a while) about how to reward owners who regularly send in uploads. Perhaps this is something to consider as well...

  3. As a former commissioner in another league, I know how frustrating it can be to get owners to trim down rosters, to have to make roster moves for them, etc. It's utterly infuriating.

I'm not sure punishing those owners is going to change behavior though. Failing to upload isn't usually the result of a rational cost-benefit decision that can be affected by increasing the cost side of the equation. Instead, it's usually because of significant real-life time pressures, forgetfulness, or a lack of passion/interest in the league. Adding punishment doesn't seem to me like it will change the behavior at issue.

    Just my two cents.

  4. I see your point, Mack. I think rewarding active owners might be a better incentive than punishing inactive ones. I also wonder if teams that don't have an upload with 25-and-35-man roster moves should have the CPU control those team for the first sim.
