  1. Ugh. Nothing good happened for me this sim.

  2. Like that's going to make ME cry, Michael. You want to run with the big boys you better be able to keep up.

    I admit, a 10-0 run doesn't hurt my chances.

And did you guys note 4/26? New York puts up 20 against Cleveland and Walla Walla scores 12 against Danville only to lose by TEN when they put up 22! Oofah!

  3. Yeah, and Danville scored a run in every inning. That doesn't happen very often.

  4. Well, I guess we know that Michael's new role as assistant commissioner won't lead to any shenanigans.

Even the godlike Junior Cuomo isn't playing up to expectations.

  5. Well, good sim for me, except for the season ending injury to my starting catcher.
12-5 against everyone but Nate so far this year.
Cohen and Bilbrey are raking (well, in the non-Hukill/Valdes sense of the word "rake"), Stelly's got a 22 game hit streak, and even my pitching is above average.

And in Small Sample Size theater, in 50 PAs this year Kevin Rubio has a .408 AVG and a .400 OBP. 20 for 49, no walks, one SF.

  6. Talking about small sample side..."Mr. Outside" for River Cities is on pace to hit 84 HRs, 227 RBIs and 207 Runs this season...not a bad season

  7. I also have to point out that AA SP Alfredo Herrero still has not let up an earned run this season. 6 starts 5-0 record in 39 1/3 innings just 2 R, 0 ER, 1.14 WHIP and a .193 OBA. A good way to start the season and maybe a 2nr round sleeper for me in the draft.

  8. I'm just waiting for Zev to let me run a regular season sim, Mack.

    (just kidding)

  9. Well, the Monarchs still aren't hitting much (.264 BA and 4.3 runs scored per game this sim), but the pitching carried us to an 11-1 record. My favorite part may be the three game sweep at home of Brooklyn on April 25-27 where we outscored the Wolves 11-0. That's right, three straight shutouts. Good stuff there.

The three-game sweep at Hickory on April 18-20, where the combined margin of victory was four runs, also looms large given the Huskers' hot start to the season.

  10. Looking through the box scores, I also liked the eight-spot thrown up by the Monarchs in the ninth inning of the April 22 game at Saskatoon to turn a 5-1 defeat into a 9-5 victory. Don't see that every day.

But, I was more impressed that in the three-game shutout of Brooklyn, the Seattle pitchers allowed only FOUR hits in 27 innings, walked ONE, and struck out THIRTY-TWO. The Wolves hit .048/.059/.071 for an OPS of .130 and struck out in 38% of their plate appearances.

Of course, Brooklyn beat Seattle on the last game of the sim 4-1 back in Brooklyn, so karma will probably result in them sweeping us in that series. Still, that's a remarkable pitching performance.

  11. And, of course, they're still only 3 games back, my celebrating friend.
