2. The massive parity-induced (?) logjams in both leagues.
3. Sherman Wheeler lost for the season!
But, the big news of the sim, is that Junior Cuomo actually blew a save. Of course, my offense scored 5 in the 10th inning to win the game, earning Junior the win, but so much for my dreams of a perfect season by him.
As for the local Los Angeles nine, I'm two games out with the typical black hole at the bottom of my rotation. Things are looking all right, otherwise.
I'd much rather be 5-9 (and only two games out of first) because my entire team failed to hit for two weeks and my closer uncharacteristically lost three games than to lose a key starting pitcher for the entire season.
My sympathies to River Cities and Walla Walla. That sucks.
Why me? What have I done to deserve this? I really thought this was the year. I thought I was going to put together a good team, finally. And then I lose Marez for the entire year? Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh. 4-9. Brutal.
And yet, Michael, I'm still better than you when I don't even have a full rotation for two weeks. You speak of having a 'black hole' at the bottom of your rotation...I literally had NOTHING in that slot and I still spanked you and took the lead.
Heck, now that I've called up a AAA farmhand lets look at the last man in the rotation.
Me: Janik STF 46 CON 55 MOV 58 END 8
Michael: Crank STF 42 CON 46 MOV 66 END 7
Proving that even suffering a catastrophic injury I can pull a pitcher out of my ass that's better than someone Michael was willing to put on the field all year long.
Not that losing Wheeler doesn't sting, because it does, especially in the salary department, but against the level of competition that LA can put up? No big.
I don't think anyone (including me) claimed that my rotation was better than yours. I knew I have no depth.
In fact, I've pulled Crank from the rotation (and I'll probably eat his salary and release him) and will go with a 4-man rotation for the time being. It's still not as good as your Wheeler-less rotation, I admit. But, I expect our teams to be neck-and-neck the entire year (two games back doesn't scare me in mid-April).
I would like to point out that rookie CF Christopher Pearsall has hit safely in every game this season so far (13 games). Not a shabby way to break into the big leagues.
So much to comment on:

Hey, even better. I'm 5-8, not 5-9. Go team!

Wow, 4-0 against Seattle. Mack, I would be surprised if I beat you that many times over the entire 2011 season.
ReplyDeleteUgh... for some reason I had it in my head that the first sim was tonight. The computer did some wacky things for me...
ReplyDeleteHope Chester Cohen can keep up this pace.
Opening day.

Looks like the Shunk trade worked out well for both of us, Mark.
