Due to the upcoming Rosh HaShannah holiday, the next sim (the last of the regular season) will be held this coming Saturday Night (not that it really matters to anyone except Mack and Trevor).
Actually, it matters to me. Not am I half-fighting for a second place finish in the Zotti League, but I'm planning the last Saturday game of the season to be Troy Nelson Day at the Scorpion Pit. He will make one last start for my franchise before retirement, and his number (14) will be retired in a post-game ceremony.
Illustrious former Scorpions/Manatees/Smashers stars Joseph Denn and Craig Barmore will be on hand to honor Troy as he finishes out his illustrious career with the franchise he began with.
You're also forgetting the always important Race for the Draft. We have several positions still up for grabs with five games to go.
Chief among these is the battle for #1. Denver and Covington are tied with a 48-109 record and will likely be battling to the end. Houston would have had a chance, but mistakenly played 11 games ahead of their Pythagorean record.
The third, fourth, and fifth picks appear largely settled with Danville, Houston, and Hickory taking those spots. However, an ill-timed winning streak could change things.
Walla Walla is locked into sixth place and Brooklyn is all but locked into seventh.
There is a battle though for the eighth pick between New York and South Bay. I guess optimists could call it a battle for second place, but we all know what's really important.
Of course, Saskatoon will soon be locked into the tenth pick, albeit with the solace of the best-ever non-playoff record.
And, River Cities will be picking eleventh. I will reluctantly keep my twelfth draft position and the trophy for another year after breaking Nate's heart in the Cecil Cup.
