  1. Ick, that was ugly.

At least no one was hurt this sim, although there are a few players who need to get out of the way of a thrown bat or two in the locker room.

  2. I swear, whoever I put in the closer role implodes.

Guillermo Bazan in the four games against Walla Walla from June 1st to June 4th: 1.2 IP, 9 H, 3 BB, 11 ER, 0-3.

Next sim I might just leave the closer blank and see what happens.

  3. Yeah, I feel that way sometimes, too. My oh, so perfect closer of the last few years is sporting a 7+ ERA at the moment.

And AWWWW, Michael...is the big bad teams being too mean to you? There's always AAA if you can't take it.

  4. Ouch. 8 weeks without Jeremy Brunton. I guess that means I have to decide whether I'm "only" 4 games out of first, or if I'm up to my peak, which is 4 games out of first...

Some of you may be getting some trade proposals, I think. 8 weeks without a #3 starter is not going to be pretty, I don't think, judging from who is ripe in my minors.

  5. I'm really trying not to say too much about the Monarchs' start to the year because I don't want to sound like an insufferable jerk. (I am, of course, an insufferable jerk. I just don't want to sound like one.) But, I came across something today that I couldn't resist posting because it is (a) utterly absurd and (b) totally unsustainable.

In the 33 games for the Monarchs this year started by my "Big Three" starting pitchers, the Seattle Monarchs are an incredible 32-1. 14-0 when Nelligan starts. 6-0 when Placencia starts. 12-1 when Hester (the slacker!) starts.

This cannot be sustained and is a true small-sample-size effect, but holy cow, what a start!
