Significant injuries:
- July 30th - Brooklyn lost SS Ronald Chambers to a torn rotator cuff muscle. He's out for the season.
- July 31st - Brooklyn lost OF Miguel Cuesta to a strained PCL. He'll miss four weeks.
- July 31st - Cleveland lost MR Adrian Busch to back spasms. He'll miss one-to-two weeks.
- August 6th - Houston lost pitcher Coy Hendon to a tender elbow. He'll miss one-to-two weeks.
- August 8th - Seattle lost OF Bas Bijkerk to a pinch nerve, suffered when he fell out of bed due to a nightmare (undoubtedly a dream about the future, with Seattle out of playoff position). He'll miss about two weeks.
- August 12th - Seattle lost SP Floyd Crown to a tender elbow. He'll miss about two weeks.
- August 14th - New York lost MR Kenneth Byers to dead arm syndrome. He'll miss one-to-two weeks.
- August 14th - River Cities lost 2B Winston Satterlee to a torn calf muscle. He'll miss the rest of the regular season.
Whew!
Awards:
- RF Paul Shunk of Hickory won the last Player of the Week award for July, as well as the first award of August
- SS Ricky Peppers of Los Angeles won the Batter of the Month for July
- SP Juan Villatoro of River Cities won the Pitcher of the Month for July
- 3B Andrés Velaso of Houston won the Rookie of the Month for July
- RF Brian Frison of Saskatoon broke Shunk's hold on the Player of the Week award and won it for the second week of August
Notable achievements:
- Elder Guzman of Los Angeles pitched a two-hitter on July 30th against Houston, and Hickory's James Turner two-hit the Scorpions on August 9th.
- Paul Shunk (yes, him again) went 5-for-5 against Seattle on August 4th.
Next sim:
- Zev will hopefully be back in the saddle next Tuesday night.
Bad sim for the Monarchs--injuries and losses. But, we're still tied for first, so it could be a lot worse.
