Well, the Monarchs survived a rough sim, with two starting pitchers going down the first two days of the sim. Three different relievers ended up starting four games. We managed to win two of them, so that's a big plus. And, both starters should be back within a week.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, it was nice to see John Hukill have a big sim, as he'd had a quiet bat since coming to Seattle. Apparently, it's a big transition coming to the Emerald City from River Cities.
The biggest surprise this year in Seattle has been a pleasant one: centerfielder Bas Bijkerk's bat. I acquired him as an entirely defense-first outfielder, and his play in the field has not disappointed (one error in 336 major league starts in center). He hit a career-high 17 home runs last year, and I was thrilled with that. But, he's already got 16 in 68 games so far this year. He won't keep this up, but I am enjoying it so far.
