Game 4 Goes To Maui; Mashers Lead Series 3-1

The Maui Mashers resumed their winning ways today with a 6-3 victory over the Seattle Monarchs, giving them a 3-1 lead in the Cecil Cup series.

Seattle scored first in the top of the second on a Bas Bijkerk RBI single against Matt McDonald.  The Mashers tied it up in the bottom of the third when Barney Maxon launched a 432 foot shot to center field against Juan Morrales. Maui then added a run in the next frame, making it 2-1.

The decisive blow, however, came off of the bat of LF Jose Fernandez, who hit a bases-loaded triple right to right in the sixth.  Fernandez later came home on an RBI single by Angel Banuelos, making the score 6-1.  Seattle chipped away at the Maui lead with a run in the seventh and another one in the eighth, but the Monarchs simply could not put enough runs on the board to catch up.

Since this game was delayed, I won't run tonight, unless both teams indicate that they are ready to go tonight.  If they aren't the next game will be Monday night.

  1. This is so unfair. My centerfielder's sister died and he's going to miss an elimination game as a result.

In the real world, we all know the player would say something like, "She would want me to play,' and the team would rally around him and they would stave off elimination and come back to win the series and it would be made into a Disney movie a few years later, with The Rock improbably starring as the swift outfielder.

But noooooo. The game isn't programmed to take that into account. Dumb designers.

At least it will give me an excuse for why my 127-win team failed to win the title. Well, that and the coin flip theory making a spirited comeback. :)

  2. By the way, I'm done with my update, so I'm ready to go when Matt is.
