  1. This was the closest game of the series, as it was only a three-run gap and there was a save recorded for the first time in the series.

While Placencia wasn't quite as awesome as he had been in the post-season, he was still pretty good with 7.2 IP, 7 hits, 3 ER, 0 BB and 6 Ks. He also chipped in on offense with two hits. In fact, the key at bat of the game was when Placencia singled with two outs in the second to drive in a run and extend the inning long enough to allow Armando Cedeno to hit a three-run home run and put the Monarchs comfortably ahead. I don't care what the game says, Placencia was the MVP for Game Five.

With the ace having done his job (4-0 in four postseason starts this year), the series returns to Seattle. Cohen on full rest for Game Six seeks a little payback for the 14-8 shellacking in Game Two and Hester is ready on full rest if needed for Game Seven. It's not over by any stretch of the imagination, but I like the Monarchs' chances of One for the Thumb right now.

Finally, a fun fact Scott Boras doesn't want you to know. In the Cecil Cup, Dong Lutz is only hitting .227 / .291 / .364 for an OPS of .654. Nice job by the Cleveland Steamer pitching staff controlling the hottest hitter this season.

  2. Well that sucked, I set up for Gerth to pitch and Minton pitched, and poorly I must say. Oh well, everytime this happens I think we should upgrade to OOTP X.

  3. Then we can call it the X Games. Wait, that's not a good thing...
