You've Got To Love The Gall of Some Players...

To answer a question posed by someone, I went to my test league and offered a player (and not a star by any means) a contract for 4 years at $50 million a year -- far outstipping any other contract that any player had been offered.

The reply I get from him:

The offer is okay, but he thinks someone else might make a better offer. :)

Proposed 2016 Schedule

As you all know, the schedule generated by the game for the last two seasons has been... a bit wacky to say the least. There have been numerous instances of teams with wildly unbalanced home/away schedules against other teams.

I took a stab at correcting this and came away with a great deal of respect for professional schedule makers -- and I had a much easier job than they did. I didn't have to deal with the logistics of real-time air travel (our players wouldn't mind going from California to New York to Washington...) nor did I have to deal with hotel bookings, conflicting stadium events, etc. Nonetheless, this was a fairly challenging task... but I did it (I think).

Here is the proposed schedule for 2016 (and every year thereafter). The season is broken down into four segments of ten serieses. Each series is either three or four games in length. The grey games are home games and the orange games are away (or these can be reversed each season).

Please take a look at the schedule and let me know what you think. I'd also appreciate it if you checked your own team's schedule and confirmed that you have 16 or 17 home and away games vs. each other team.

For those in the Zotti League, the schedule is the same... simply substitute the team names as follows:

BRK -> DAN
MAU -> NY
HIK -> CLE
HOU -> LA
SAS -> RIV
SEA -> OH

Take a look... tell me what you think or if you spot any errors.

Thanks,

Sim's Done

Game Date: Sep 16, 2015

In the Adams League, the Monarchs hold a thirteen game lead over Saskatoon. The Amigos hold a five game lead over the Wolves for the wild card.

In the Zotti League (otherwise known as the Ohio division), Cleveland continued surging and took a two game lead in the division over the slumping Sternwheelers. Don't feel too badly for Nate, however... his team still has a thirteen game over the Buckeyes for the wild card.

Next sim will be next Tuesday.

And We're In The Homestretch...

Game Date: Sep 1, 2o15. Time to expand those rosters.

In the Adams League, Seattle has a fifteen game lead over Saskatoon. The Amigos hold a five game lead over the Wolves for the wild card.

Over in the Zotti League, River Cities' nine game lead over Cleveland was cut to four. Ohio, however, fell to eleven games behind their interstate rivals.

Big Injuries this sim (all gone for the season):
RF Brian Frison, Saskatoon
LF Rafael Collazo, Seattle
CF Roger Nichols, Seattle

Next sim will be next Tuesday.

The Tension: Lunch Rides a Pale Sim

Ohio and River Cities face each other a full seven games this sim.

And David has challenged me: loser of the series buys lunch next week.

The tension is killing me!

Sim Delay...

One owner has some players on DFA and not enough spots on his 40 man roster to accomodate them. We'll try again on Wednesday night.

Zev

UPDATE: I received instructions from the owner regarding his DFA players. However, between work and school, I didn't even eat dinner until midnight last night (and then I had more work still). I'll run the sim tonight.

Sim's done.

League Date: Aug 16, 2015

Adams League: Seattle has a commanding 12 game lead for the league title. Saskatoon's hold on the wild card is less secure, with Brooklyn only three games behind and Maui seven back.

Zotti League: River Cities is up by nine over Cleveland. The Steamers hold an eight game lead over Ohio for the wild card.

Major injuries this sim:

Maui: MR Wesley Elton, out for the season
Maui: SP Robert Gibson, out for the season
Houston: CF David Nightengale, out for the season
Saskatoon: SP Glen Mitchell will miss 6-7 weeks

For what it's worth, before he injured himself, Gibson pitched a 5-hit shutout against Saskatoon this sim. The Sternwheeler's John Okane also pitched a 5-hit shutout as well, his against Danville.

Next sim will be on Tuesday night.

Maui/Saskatoon Blockbuster

To Saskatoon:
MR D. Alcala

To Maui:
$1 million
10th round pick

If required to make the trade go through, Eric will include the scrub of his choice, 28-year old A-baller SP Jacob Ferguson.

Ha! Bad mans is gone.

This is a warning to players that do not share their wings.

To Cleveland:
ML LF Sean Banton
ML 1B Basil Napoles

To Houston:
AAA 1B James Watts
5th Round Pick

Suffer in Cleveland you wing hogging freak. What send the deal was when the Cleveland GM let it slip the James Watts was actually a Charlie Watts clone. Yup 7th innings are going to be so sweet.

Last Minute Trade: Ohio and River Cities

Yes, friends, the best buds of Ohio have done it again. I don't have time for a big write up now but here's the deal:

C William Ward
7th round pick
8th round pick
9th round pick

to Ohio for

RF William Satterlee
AA CF Guillaume Fornier
AAA 1B Lindsay Walker

Next Sim....

When is it? Do I have time to make more trades?

Still no love for the Batonman?

This is a previous post.

The Piggy hates Sean Banton. He
would not share his
wings therefore he must go. His little friend Basl Napoles must go with him
too. The Piggy want pick and prospects in return.
As usual offers from Zotti
teams have an edge.
That is All
Why do you hate the Batonman so? The Piggy hates him more and wants him gone. Even if Napoles stays.

Trading Deadline! Time To Get Those Last Minute Deals In!

Game Date: July 30, 2015. We're at the trading deadline. Get those last minute deals in.

In the Adams League, the Seattle Monarchs lead Saskatoon by five and Brooklyn by twelve.
In the Zotti League, River Cities has a commanding ten game lead over Cleveland and a twenty game lead over the Buckeyes.

The award for worst injury of the sim goes to Brooklyn catcher Beau Manning who will miss three weeks after straining his something or other running the bases. He's out for three weeks.

In other news, Dong Lutz became the 8th member of the 300HR club this past sim. Soon to follow should be Hickory's Robert Fout (297) and Brooklyn's Miguel Cuesta (293).

Next sim will be next Tuesday.

I processed the trades and uploaded new files. If you gave me post-trade instructions, please note that I did NOT perform them, as you have the opportunity to do so yourself.

The regular sim will be run on Wednesday night (tonight).

Minor Schedule Change

At the request of several owners, I am going to process transactions (including uploading exported files) tonight, but not actually run a sim.

Tomorrow (Wednesday), I will again import uploaded files and run the sim through July 30. That will give owners an extra two weeks to make trades.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
