Game Date: Sep 16, 2015
In the Adams League, the Monarchs hold a thirteen game lead over Saskatoon. The Amigos hold a five game lead over the Wolves for the wild card.
In the Zotti League (otherwise known as the Ohio division), Cleveland continued surging and took a two game lead in the division over the slumping Sternwheelers. Don't feel too badly for Nate, however... his team still has a thirteen game over the Buckeyes for the wild card.
Next sim will be next Tuesday.

Hell of a time for Villatoro and everyone else to go cold!
ReplyDeleteWell Nate, they could be just getting it out of their system before the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteSince the trading deadline when River Cities was up by 10 games, the two teams heading up the ZL have been like night and day. I picked up Turner and Blanton (Turner has been a beast for me - 4-0 with a 0.98 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP) and have gone 31-11, which is better than I thought I would do.
During the same time period after RC traded away their star 3B Quijada to Ohio, they have gone 19-23 (and Ohio has gone 24-18). Not saying that Quijada was the key to RC's success, but he did help.
18 game winning streak followed by a 6-11 tailspin. From looking at the boxscores, it seems like there's a lot more doubles allowed and a higher BABIP against in that stretch.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think the outfield injuries have affected the once mighty Monarchs. I tried an offense-first outfield. Time to go to a more defensive-oriented approach.
My manager should be FIRED for the way he managed the September 15 game between Maui and Saskatoon. With one out in the 3rd inning, and with Maui down 11-0, he brings in my CLOSER, who stays in the game for 5.1 innings and throws 103 pitches. And then, just to show that he has a sense of humor (apparently), he brings in my #1 starter to get the last out of the game (2 pitches).
ReplyDeleteMatt, what was your poor manager supposed to do? You have only six relievers, two of which were injured. That leaves four guys in the bullpen. Kepner and Mijangos had each thrown three of the previous four days. Kumar two of the previous three. And your closer tried to finish out the game, and threw 103 pitches. Maybe he was just totally gassed.
ReplyDeleteLooks to me as though your manager didn't have many good options once your starter sucked and got pulled in the first down 5-0. At that point, the game wasn't out of hand, so I can't really criticize that decision either.
More to the point, why didn't the GM call some guys up in September to give the poor manager some more options? For God's sake, the poor man has your wretched franchise on the fringes of a playoff race and nearing it's first winning record in forever and you aren't giving him the tools to succeed. Somewhere, a reporter is writing a story using anonymous sources that reveals that the Maui players are questioning management's dedication to winning. Something about how they just needed a little extra push to make the playoffs and the front office has done nothing, to the point that they called up only one solitary player in September.
No wonder your fans have "below average loyalty." I would too, if I were them.
