The website's been updated.  We'll give Mack a few days to bask in the glory of his accomplishment and pick things up next week.  I'll post a preliminary schedule on Sunday.

  2. Another great starting pitching performance, as Hester went eight innings, giving up two runs on five hits, one walk, and striking out 11. While it's obviously a flawed stat, the Seattle starters had 9 quality starts in 10 playoff starts. Collectively, they threw exactly 80 innings over those 10 starts with a 1.91 ERA. That's an amazing effort.

More surprising is that the Monarchs offense scored 11 runs on 17 hits in this game. I would not have expected that kind of outburst, especially against Isaac Diehl. Heck, Hester even chipped in with a two-out, RBI single during a critical five-run rally in the fifth inning.

Bas Bijkerk continued his torrid playoffs with another hone run and 4 RBI. The defensive ace ended up tying for the team lead with three playoff home runs and led the team with 12 RBI. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come offensively for the 22-year-old.

With the offseason will come the departure of three of the best hitters on the Monarchs to free agency (1B Marzano, 2B Quijada, and RF Kerry). Luckily, the rotation and bullpen will return intact. So, the question is whether we'll be able to find enough runs next year to complement the pitching strength.
