LCS Game 3 -- New York, New York!

It's party time in New York tonight as SDMB league OOTP playoff fever came to the Big Apple for the first time, and both home teams withheld their favored opponents by identical 9-3 scores.

In the Adams League, Seattle's owner Mack Schulz's worst dreams are coming true as Brooklyn storms ahead two games to one, while River Cities maintains a two-games-to-one lead over New York despite losing.

Game 4 in both leagues will be simmed Thursday night. Will Brooklyn move into position to clinch the AL pennant? Will fellow host New York even their series? Only time will tell...

The league file is up.

  1. Zev: How do you want me to schedule game 5 and (if necessary*) game 6 for this weekend? Tentatively, I'm thinking of simming game 5 on Saturday morning -- if I have time, I have family in town this weekend, and game 6 on Sunday night (late, after the aforementioned visitors leave).

I want to give you enough time to send in your updates, with the shabbos, so let me know if that schedule will work for you.

    * Mack's two least favorite words, I imagine.

  2. Well, I don't know this Schulz guy, but I admit this is kind of a bummer.
Good for the league, I think, but bad for me.

I also note that Brain Thorn was the only Monarchs pitcher not to give up a run. Kind of ironic.

  3. Sure looks like Diehl shut us down that game. No one, on either side of the ball, pitching or hitting, had much together. Okane didn't get it done and then Theriault didn't help any during his two innings.

We'll see how things move on from here. I'm still up 2-1 and maintain home field advantage. I just need to win 2 games of the next four to advance.

Mack's team, if anything, had even less in the tank than I did. Placencia got hammered in his 4.2 innings. Ouch!

At least there's been no injuries during the series so far. That's something.

  4. Well, I'm hitting alright, and the pitching came around somewhat.

I have NO idea who I am starting in game 4. I could bring back Thomas on short rest, but he got shelled in the first game. Hector Orozco is the veteran option, but McKinley Donaldson has better numbers this year (although he's been on the PATH shuttle between New York and my AAA team in Jersey City all year).
Or I could give Morris Spellman his first start of the year on 2 days rest.
I may be regretting my decision to leave Bradford McGreevy off my playoff roster... but his numbers were worse than any of the above.

  5. Wow! That's all I can say.

I was fairly certain that I'd get a decent outing out of Delvalle, but I didn't expect that my lineup would manage more than a few hits off of Placencia.

Mike, unless there is an injury, I don't forsee changing my lineup/pitching staff at all for the rest of the series. That being said, feel free to run the rest of the first round at whatever schedule works for you.

  6. I'm in the same situation as Zev. So, even though I'll be gone and unable to update over the weekend, don't hold anything up on my account.
