Seattle and Saskatoon both advanced to the Cecil Cup round today.
Saskatoon defeated Maui 5-2 after 14 innings. Interestingly, Saskatoon scored all three runs in the top of the 14th after there were two outs and no one on base.
Seattle, meanwhile, defeated Hickory by a score of 5-4. Starting pitcher Christopher Hester won his 12th career postseason game (against only two losses), defeating Jesus Morales.
Preliminary Cecil Cup schedule:
Game 1: Monday night
Game 2: Tuesday night
Game 3: Wednesday night
Game 4: Thursday night
Game 5: Saturday night
Games 6-7: TBA
Congrats to Matt and Frank on great seasons. The first game of the Hickory-Seattle series was a blowout, decided by two runs. :) The last four were all one-run games. I'm just glad the coin flipped my way.
ReplyDeleteI am a little concerned about facing Saskatoon though. They held Maui to seven runs in five games, and two of those went extra innings! Spectacular pitching. By far the best team pitching performance in playoff history. When the Amigos last won the title in 2015, their pitching was the key. I'm hoping history doesn't repeat itself.
Ouch, what a way to lose! Congrats, Eric, on a dominant pitching performance.
ReplyDeleteGo Saskatoon!
Come on, Matt. Don't you want to root for the sustained excellence of the Seattle Monarchs and a possible three-peat? Wouldn't it be exciting to see the Monarchs win an eighth championship in ten years?
ReplyDeleteOK, so I'm probably not the people's choice in this series. I can live with being the bad guy.
