The Seattle Monarchs took the first game of the Cecil Cup series with a 2-1 victory against the Saskatoon Amigos in 10 innings.
Seattle scored first with a run in the third with a solo home run by Bas Bijkerk. Saskatoon responded in the sixth with a solo home run by Luis Ramon. That's how things stood until the bottom of the tenth when Bas Bijkerk led off the bottom of the 10th with a solo home run to give Seattle the victory.
Game 2 will be Tuesday night.
Always liked that Bijkerk kid. But the Seattle pitching is what really stepped up, holding the Amigos to just three hits in ten innings. That's very nice.
