Sadly, this will be my last scheduled sim of the postseason, as our beloved commissioner's team was eliminated. However, those who like underdogs (Sorry, Matt) will be pleased to learn that Barstow thumped Maui 13-5 to avoid being swept.
In the first game, Brooklyn faced elimination and didn't play with much urgency as the Monarchs stormed to a 5-0 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, perhaps inspired by the seventh inning stretch, Brooklyn stormed back to tie the game at 5. Two-run home runs by both Andy Robertson and Juan Carrillo highlighted the inning.
Lúcio Muñíz doubled home Bas Bijkerk, however, in the top of the ninth. Seattle closer Robert Riddick struck out the first two Wolves in the bottom of the ninth, and Katsuhiko Jouda grounded to short to end the fledgling postseason for Brooklyn.
Seattle gets to rest its starters for at least a day or two, as Barstow staved off elimination with a 13-5 victory. The Lizards batted around in the bottom of the sixth and scored seven runs, capped by a three-run home run by Richard Bender.
And, with that, I sign off for this postseason. Zev's got the reins again.
