Postseason sim: Cecil Cup game 5

In perhaps the best game of the postseason, the Brooklyn Wolves won their first Cecil Cup, defeating the heavily-favored Seattle Monarchs 6-5, in eleven innings, to win the 2023 championship four games to one.

Jaime Vasquez was the star for the Wolves, hitting a two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, and then a solo shot in the 11th to walk it off, Joe Carter-style.

Congrats to Zev for finally winning the championship. As an original owner and your loyal lieutenant, I couldn't be happier. Congrats to Mack, too, for yet another incredible regular season, and for a valiant comeback in the LCS.

That'll do it for the 2023 season, and for me running your sims. I'm anxious to take over my team and try to return the Lenape to the postseason after a disappointing season for the Philadelphia area.

Zev, after drying off from the champagne shower, will take things over from here. Onward to 2024!

Congrats again, Zev!

  1. Congratulations Zev. A very well-deserved title. After all the years you've been running the league, the least you deserve is a trophy.

  2. Wow. I. Am. Shocked.

Thanks Mack, and thank you Michael for your congratulations and your running the playoffs.

As we usually do, we'll take a few days before continuing.

  3. Brooklyn OF Jaime Vazquez has to be the MVP for the playoffs. Five home runs. 15 RBI. An .837 slugging percentage. And, as Michael points out above, the game-tying and game-winning home runs in the championship-clinching win.

That's a remarkable performance, worthy of celebration.

  4. By the way, some big transactional news too. All-time stars Ronald Placencia and Junior Cuomo retired.

Also, Brooklyn's manager retired. I wonder if he announced it while doused by champagne. :)

  5. I noticed the Placencia and Cuomo retirements, too. I was planning a blog entry this weekend congratulating Cuomo, whom I consider one of the best players of all time in this game.
